Epiphone USA Map Guitar Natural Satin 2005 Electric Guitar

This is an Epiphone USA Map Electric Guitar in Natural Satin finish. Originally made as a one-off prototype for a marketing campaign back in 1982, this 2005 reissue features a Mahogany body in the shape of the continental United States of America. A special run from the Epiphone custom shop, this guitar is now a sought after collector’s piece.

Made in Korea in 2005, this guitar consists of a Mahogany USA-shaped body, a Maple neck, and a 22-fret Rosewood fingerboard. Other appointments include Chrome hardware, a Tune-O-Matic bridge, a Stopbar tailpiece, Black Reflector knobs, Grover Die-Cast tuners, and a set of Alnico Classic Humbucking pickups. These pickups are wired to two volume controls, a tone control, and a three-way pickup selector.

The Maple neck sits comfortably in the hand, with the ‘C’ shaped profile providing ergonomic thumb positioning up and down the neck. The Satin finish to the rear of the neck assists with smooth transitions, making navigation of the 24.75” scale feel like a breeze. The Rosewood fingerboard is pleasant under the fingers, and with its 12” radius offers a nice balance between comfortable chord playing and practicality for lead lines and string bending techniques.

The Alnico Classic humbuckers in this guitar offer a full, thick tone, plenty of warmth and roundness is present in the neck position. The middle position sounds punchy, with driving mids along with crisp and clear highs making for a nice blend of the two pickups. The bridge position provides open sustain and broad harmonic clarity, making chords sound crystalline and clear. The wiring gives plenty of versatility without any complicated switching, making this instrument great for tonal sculpting to the players desired taste.
