Accessibility Statement

At refurbed, we're committed to making our website and digital services accessible to as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technologies. Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we work to continuously improve the user experience across our platform.

Our accessibility target

Our target is to align with WCAG 2.1 Level AA, in line with the EU Accessibility Act.

What we're improving now

Based on audit findings and our prioritization approach—especially for the purchase journey—our current improvement focus is on conversion-critical flows, including product discovery and checkout.

We are currently prioritizing fixes in these areas:

Checkout (Cart, Address, Payment, Add-ons)

  • Keyboard & focus: payment options and key controls aren't fully keyboard-operable, and focus visibility/handling can be inconsistent.
  • Forms & errors: some fields have missing/incorrect labels or relationships (incl. radio grouping), and validation errors aren't always correctly linked to inputs or handled with reliable focus.
  • Structure: headings/page structure need improvements; some controls (e.g., quantity) lack accessible names.
  • Updates & content: toast/status messages aren't consistently announced; some images need correct alt text; decorative icons should be hidden from assistive tech.

Product page

  • Structure & controls: option groups, accordions, ratings controls, and dropdowns need improved semantics and keyboard support.
  • Content: product imagery alt text and table headers need corrections; decorative icons should be hidden.
  • Flow: some interactions trigger reloads that disrupt the expected user journey.

Global navigation & overlays

  • Navigation & search: focus order and keyboard navigation need improvements; search suggestions can obscure focus; overlays should be dismissible via ESC where applicable.
  • Cookie consent: the cookie overlay needs correct dialog semantics and improved focus management.
  • Clarity & contrast: focus indicator contrast and some navigation labels need improvement.

How we work on accessibility

We have an internal Accessibility Working Group that coordinates accessibility work across teams and conducts an accessibility audit every 6 months (or on demand if needed). Audit results are translated into tracked tickets and prioritized using a consistent framework.
